Biography of W. E. Lukens

W. E. Lukens

This gentleman is a native of Franklin county, but came to Madison county with his parents, George K. and Mary Moore Lukens, when but six years of age, locating in Fairfield township. His early education was obtained in the district school. Mr. Lukens worked with his father at farming until November 1905, then went to Columbus, where he learned undertaking and embalming with Pletcher, Brown & Co. He then purchased Mr. Myers' interest in the firm of Myers & Jackson, funeral directors of Springfield, Ohio, and the firm became known as Jackson & Lukens. After a very successful experience there he came to London, May 2, 1908, and purchased the undertaking business of G. W. Lewis on West Second street. He is well-equipped for the profession, holding two certificates as professional embalmer.

In additon Mr. Lukens will do picture framing at a reasonable price for which he is also well-equipped.

Mr. Lukens was married to May Vanhorn of this county, November 7, 1907. He is prominent in many fraternal orders and begins his business in London with excellent prospects.
